Set in the magnificent framework of a historical, 16th century, Tuscan stone house, our delightful apartment offers you a romantic, relaxing stay. The antique charm of this old, but carefully restored, house has been brought to new light through the respect and sensitivity of those who love the history of places, people and things. The materials used for its restoration were chosen carefully and the ancient stones, bricks and the old wooden beams, have almost all been reutilised. The task was long and arduous, but the result is a magical place, rich in atmosphere, from the far reaches of Tuscan history. The house lies in the typical mediaeval village of Pietraviva, or “living stone”, in the heart of Valdambra. This area is an ideal place for those who wish to discover an unspoilt corner of Tuscany, unchanged by tourism and authentic. In this valley you will experience the daily life of common people, their good-natured sense of humour and their warm hospitality. The Valdambra enjoys an extremely fortunate geographical position, in the heart of the most beautiful areas in Tuscany, yet still genuinely animated by a truly rural way of life. The main activities are still bound up with agriculture: with the production of wine, extra virgin olive oil and tobacco. The valley lies at the threshold of the Chianti Classico, just a few kilometres from Siena and Arezzo, and not far from Florence, which can be reached both by car and by train from the local railway station. The magnificent towns of Cortona, Montepulciano, Montalcino and the picturesque Valdorcia, famous all over the world for its rolling hills, cypresses and cornfields, are all nearby. The cosy, rustic apartment lies on the ground floor of the old stone house. It has a completely independent entrance and is ideal for couples seeking peace and tranquillity. It consists of a small, but fully-equipped, kitchen, a comfortable living room with a dining table next to the double-bedded sleeping area (cradle or child’s bed available), and a delightful bathroom with a shower. The entire flat is well-lit and painted in the colours typical of Tuscan traditional; the hand-made terra cotta tiles of the floors, belong to the same style as the antique stones visible in one of the walls. To make your stay more enjoyable the owners Giorgio, Marta, Azzurra and Christian have prepared a “welcome basket” with basic Tuscan ingredients such as salt, pepper, local virgin olive oil, spices, vinegar, a racket of pasta, fruit, and breakfast items such as butter, milk, coffe, tea, local honey, jams and buiscuits. Bed linen, towels, table cloths and kitchen linen will be also provided.
