Montecatini Terme, situated in Valdinievole, is one of Europe’s spa capitals. The recovery of Montecatini began in the 18th century, when the first bath resorts were built. In the 20th century, it became one of the most renowned spa resorts in Italy, and famous visitors included Giuseppe Verdi, Pietro Mascagni, Ruggero Leoncavallo, Trilussa, Beniamino Gigli and Luigi Pirandello.
